GENERAL DESCRIPTION

HL58104 is an object proximity sensor IC, with four capacitive input keys and four direct outputs. The state of an output is correspondence to the state of an input key directly. There are three kinds of output modes (active high, active low and toggle mode), which can be chosen by polarity input pin. HL58104 is fabricated by CMOS process with very low power consumption. There are two operating mode, low power current mode and normal mode. In low power mode, the operating current is only about 5uA for four keys operation. In normal operating mode, the response time is very fast. When there is a key detected, HL58104 will enter into normal state with fast response time. In the normal state, HL58104 will enter into low power state if there is not key detected for about 20sec. The current consumption can be adjusted by input pin. If the number of input keys is smaller than four, the operating current can be reduced further. For a one key operation, the low power state current can be reduced to about 2uA. If one key wake up is good enough for a four keys system, the low power operating current for a four keys system can be reduced to about 2uA.

In order to be used in a variety of different applications, there are some parameters used to define the sensitivity, time waiting for a stable state, sampling time and polarity of the output.

In many applications, the power supply of the system is not stable and interfered by noise. In order to operate in this condition, a voltage regulator is designed in HL58104. In the operating range of HL58104, variation of the output voltage of regulator in HL58104 is smaller than 1mV even the variation of the power supply exceeds 1V. For this excellent performance, the power supply can be even connected to a low power motor (e.g. the motor used in a toy) directly without interfered by variation of the voltage of power supply and the noise of the motor. And the noise of a switching power supply will not affect the performance of HL58104. Besides the high resistance to power supply voltage variation, HL58104 also has high resistance to temperature variation. The operating temperature range can be as wide as from -40℃ to +80℃.
