GENERAL DESCRIPTION

HL5804 is an object proximity sensor IC, with four capacitive input keys and four direct outputs. The state of output is correspondence to the state of an input directly. There are two kinds of output modes, active high and active low, which can be chosen by polarity input pin. HL5804 is fabricated by CMOS process with very low power consumption. There are two operating mode, low power current mode and normal mode. In low power mode, the operating current is only about 10uA. In normal operating mode, the response time is very fast. All of the four keys can operates in the low power state. When there is a key detected, HL5804 will enter into normal state with fast response time. In the normal state, HL5804 will enter into low power state if there is not key detected for about one minute. The current consumption in low power state can be adjusted by two external resistors.

In order to be used in a variety of different applications, there are some parameters used to define the sensitivity, stability, time waiting for a stable state, sampling time and polarity of the output.

In many applications, the power supply of the system is not stable and interfered by noise. In order to operate in this condition, a voltage regulator is designed in HL5804. In the operating range of HL5804, variation of the output voltage of regulator in HL5804 is smaller than 1mV even the variation of the power supply exceeds 1V. For this excellent performance, the power supply can be even connected to a low power motor (e.g. the motor used in a toy) directly without interfered by variation of the voltage of power supply and the noise of the motor. And the noise of a switching power supply will not affect the performance of HL5804. Besides the high resistance to power supply voltage variation, HL5804 also has high resistance to temperature variation. The operating temperature range can be as wide as from -40℃ to +80℃.

There are two options offered for HL5804 series: standard CMOS output for HL5804 and open drain output for HL5804B.
