GENERAL DESCRIPTION

HL5801 is an object proximity sensor IC, with one capacitive input key and one direct output. The state of output is correspondence to the state of an input directly. There are three kinds of output modes, active high, active low and toggle mode, which can be chosen by polarity input pin. HL5801 is fabricated by CMOS process with very low power consumption. There are two operating mode, low power current mode and normal mode. In low power mode, the operating current can be only about 3uA by the selection of input pins. In normal operating mode, the response time is very fast. When there is a key detected, HL5801 will enter into normal state with fast response time. In the normal state, HL5801 will enter into low power state if there is not key detected for about 20sec. The current consumption can be adjusted by input pin.

In order to be used in a variety of different applications, there are some parameters used to define the sensitivity, time waiting for a stable state, sampling time and polarity of the output.

In many applications, the power supply of the system is not stable and interfered by noise. In order to operate in this condition, a voltage regulator is designed in HL5801. In the operating range of HL5801, variation of the output voltage of regulator in HL5801 is smaller than 1mV even the variation of the power supply exceeds 1V. And the noise of a switching power supply will not affect the performance of HL5801. Besides the high resistance to power supply voltage variation, HL5801 also has high resistance to temperature variation. The operating temperature range can be as wide as from -40℃ to +80℃.
