GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The HL6402 is a high quality music IC fabricated by CMOS process. In this IC, there are four tones, which can play simultaneously. Each tone can simulate different instrument timber. In order to simulate the timber of instrument, there is envelope waveform circuit and frequency synthesizer circuit built in this IC. In the envelope circuit, PCM technique and sound effect circuits are used to construct the waveform. By this technique, the attack, sustain and the decay of the envelope waveform is defined. The table of PCM code is defined by a ROM, which can be programmed in each IC. In the frequency synthesizer circuit PCM technique and sound effect circuit is also used. And we can program the waveform of frequency synthesizer to many kinds of waveform to simulate the timber of different instrument. The range of pitch covers 5 1/2 octaves frequency range. And each tone can cover 2 1/2 octaves of the 5 1/2 octaves. The IC consists of 2048 notes, which can be programmed up to 16 different songs.

There are four LED drivers built in the IC. The LED will flash according to the tempo of the melody. There are four different flashing modes, which described in the following page. These 4 different modes can be chosen by the LED mode key. The 4 modes consist of 3 basic modes and one combination mode. In the combination mode, the IC will play one of the basic modes, but change to another mode when song changes.
