Westminster Chime Door Bell (Tube-Bell) - 4 notes
Westminster Chime Door Bell (Tube-Bell) - 8 notes
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
HL6216 is a monolithic CMOS IC designed specially for doorbell. In order to reduce the cost of doorbell, HL6216 consists of a preamplifier, a decoder, a melody generator, a speech synthesizer and a power amplifier. The speech synthesizer uses high sampling rate and DSP technology to obtain high quality sound. The decoder has 10 address bits and 2 data bits or 8 address bits and 4 data bits, which can be selected by bonding option (SO16 pin). When 2 data bits are used, 4 different songs or chimes can be chosen by the data bit of transmitter. When 4 data bits is used, 16 different songs or chimes can be chosen. The sound of HL6216 simulates the sound of tube-bells. But HL6216 series can also simulate many other kinds of instrument, because it uses speech synthesizer to generate sound.
The HL6216 can accept the signal generated by HT-12E or PTC 2262. During the standby state, the only consumption current is for preamplifier circuit, which is about 20uA. There is an activation protection circuit designed in HL6216. The logic circuit will not activated by noise. The power amplifier of HL6216 is designed as a class B amplifier. The current of the whole chip when speaker ON is about 20mA (VDD = 3V) or about 40mA (VDD = 4.5V).
When used as an AC type doorbell, a 1uf capacitor (or 2uf capacitor) can fee the power from AC power line. When 1uf capacitor is used, the working voltage of the system is about 3V. When 2uf capacitor is used, the working voltage of the system is about 4.5V. There is a working voltage select pin. If this pin is connected to VDD, the working voltage is 3V. If this pin is connected to VSS, the working voltage is 4.5V. The power amplifier is an OTL type power amplifier. The speaker can be connected to the output through a 200uf capacitor.
In HL6216, there are four VDD PAD and three VSS PAD. Preamplifier and power amplifier use separated power terminal, and the interference can be reduced to minimum.
